This year will see the seventh RMB WineX Wine Festival in Cape Town, and with it a celebration of the growth and consolidation of the Southern Hemisphere's largest consumer wine show.

Expected to attract over 8500 wine aficionados who will have the opportunity of tasting nearly 1200 wines from close to 200 South African and international producers, WineX, sponsored by Rand Merchant Bank, is a celebration of the wonders of wine.

In South Africa's rapidly evolving wine market, shows such as RMB WineX have become the single most important bridge builder between the producer and the consumer.

Bringing together both large and small producers, RMB WineX showcases some of the country's finest, amongst these are Elgin Vintners, Groot Constantia, Jordan Wine Estate, The House of Krone — Twee Jonge Gezellen and Vergelegen.

Meet the winemakers, taste their current releases, and learn about the latest trends in winemaking.

In addition, handcrafted cheese, olives and olive products, imported and local wine accessories and glassware will be showcased and available for purchase.

RMB WineX is a unique wine show in that the public participates in the Best-Wine-on-Show poll, voting for their favourite reds and whites — a great diversity of wines being evident annually, along with lesser known varietals such as Sangiovese and Barbera, rare wines from boutique cellars and organic producers.

RMB WineX Cape Town, is scheduled to be held 9 to 11 September 2009 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Long Street, Cape Town between 5pm and 9pm daily.

Early Bird R75 (available from 1 August to 6 September). Special two day pass for Tuesday and Wednesday nights: R140 (available from 1 August to 6 September). Thereafter and at the door Wednesday and Thursday R90 and Friday R95.
