Jazz season at Backsberg runs from January to June, featuring a different band on the last Friday of every month. This month's featured band: The Muirhead Trio.

The Jazz band:

This month we'll be heating things up for you with the funk and jazz mix that is The Muirhead Trio. This band is formed around lead guitarist Bruce Muirhead — a well-oiled jazz muso, film music composer and teacher. He's done various international gigs and more recently performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

The band enhances his undiluted jazz style — treading new and fresh territory as a collective. In Bruce's words, they're "navigating between the tried and trusted, and new impulses". For more about the band and samples of music, visit http://www.myspace.com/muirheadquartet

Mediterranean platters consist of:

Freshly baked Ciabata Bread filled with slices of Spit Roasted Lamb; Italian-style cured meats and delicious cheeses matched with preserves; Sundried tomatoes, olives, feta, and a trio of home-made dips served with savoury biscuits and farm-style bread; as well as seasonal fruit skewers.

Backsberg wines will be available for purchase as well.
