Franschhoek will once again play stylish host to the country's largest Champagne festival.

The 2008 Franschhoek Cap Classique and Champagne Festival, sponsored by Investec Private Bank, will showcase an array of celebrated Cap Classique producers as well as some of the finest French Champagne Houses. The festival will occur over the weekend of 6–7 December.

This event features acclaimed Champagnes such as Ayala, Billecart Salmon, Claude Beaufort, Gosset, Joseph Perrier, Laurent Perrier, Pol Roger, Thierry Lesne and Tribaut; as well as popular Cap Classiques like Bon Courage, Boschendal, Chamonix, Colmant, Constantia Uitsig, Dieu Donné, Graham Beck, Hazendal, Krone, Morena, Môreson, Pierre Jourdan, Pongracz, Simonsig, Steenberg, Topiary and Villiera.

The festivities will take place in a grand marquee on the lawns surrounding Franschhoek's famous Huguenot Monument.

The bubbly stalls will be intermingled with a wide variety of food stands where Franschhoek's leading restaurants will be offering specially-prepared cuisine to complement the Champagne. Visitors will also have the opportunity to do some festive season shopping at Franschhoek's boutiques.

Entrance to the bubbly tasting costs R180 per head, and includes a Champagne flute tasting glass and a book of bubbly tasting vouchers.
