After the successful inaugural show in Cape Town at the CTICC in 2007, followed by a sold out event staged at Gallagher Estates in Midrand, Johannesburg, the Lifestyle SA Festival — Celebrating Black, makes its way back to the mother city and takes place at Kenilworth Race Course from 11 to 12 October.
Human Element Inc, a Cape Town based company headed by three dynamic women, Shiru Githiomi, Zukisa Hani and Zuki Mzozoyana are the brains and energy behind this ambitious project.
The festival is premised on our core objective of championing the Afropolitan cause of creating wealth and preserving capital. This slick, high energy information driven festival incorporates thought provoking panel discussions, complemented by an unrivalled line up of entertainment with leading Afro-fusion jazz bands, a fashion component featuring local designers showcasing their creations on curvaceous bodies, and not to mention laughter with South Africa's best kings of comedy.
The business and financial component of the festival is anchored by thought leaders who will be interrogating the direction of South Africa's economy in the next five years, building wealth through property in these economic times, the secrets of making mega bucks on the internet and BEE share options.
On the cultural front, the festival is proud to present a controversial conversation on the meaning of the African identity in the 21st century and music acts from the likes of Sibongile Khumalo, Jimmy Dludlu, HHP and Ringo. Laughing at our eccentricities and circumstances, Trevor Noah, Stuart Taylor, Eugine Khoza and the bold Tumi Morake take on the monumental responsibility for comic relief.
In a nutshell this newest edition to South Africa's annual social and business calendar is informative, entertaining and experiential. It is a premium event conceptualised for the palette of a discerning Afropolitan who is ambitious, curious and lives on the lighter side of life.
This event is open to everyone. Entry fee for the Lifestyle SA Festival is R150 and can be booked through www.computicket.com. The festival runs over two days and visitors have the option of buying a one day or weekend pass.
