Forget your afternoon jog or early evening Pilates, how about weight training using your dog? Or doing yoga while suspended from the ceiling? These fitness trends will have you in some crazy positions – all for a good cause, of course.
Hypno-Yoga
Created by yoga practitioners and hypnotherapists in Omaha, Nebraska, the new fitness programme was developed after a BBC study revealed that brainwaves actually change during hypnosis.
The CDs and DVDs are described as "the next generation of mind-body wellness programs, and combines the proven benefits of yoga and hypnosis to help align the mind with the body and its behaviors."
Programmes include: "Freedom from Emotional Eating," "Sleeping Better," "Living in the Present Moment", and "Increased Energy."

Playing this video game will require you to get up and move around! With the Wii fit exercise game you'll also receive a fitness board that you'll need to stand on during the game.
Cocooning
Think "trapeze artist in a bag", now think "yoga". Regular yoga positions have been adapted to become gravity-defying stunts whilst hanging from the ceiling from a large piece of cloth. Developed by artists in Cirque du Soleil the experience is bound to be exhilarating!
Run from the zombies!
A new iPhone app called Zombies, run! casts you in the role of "Runner 5" during a total zombie apocalypse. Run fast enough and you just might save the world! Your goal is to collect supplies, thwart zombies, and rebuild civilization... whilst on your regular run around the block.
As you follow the story, the app follows your time, pace and calories burned during each of the 13 missions. Talk about fantastical exercise.
Toilet Yoga
No time for exercise? That’s all right! This trend has you doing a series of 15 stretches and poses while on the loo! 10 percent of the profits from the book and iPad app go to Toilet Twinning, an organization that provides working hygienic toilets to communities that desperately need them.
Snowga
Ready to burn some serious calories in the cold? This 90-minute ski or snowboard class begins with gentle stretches, meditation techniques to use on the lift and as you slide down the mountain. Launched by yoga teacher and ski instructor Anne Anderson, this workout is not for the faint-hearted!
Doggy weights
We all know some women love to carry their doggies in their handbags, but using them as exercise weights? Here's a new one. Not exactly SPCA-approved, women have been spotted with their dogs strapped around their waist as weights. Points for originality!
Kangoo jumping
This fun exercise will have you hopping about kangaroo-style to get a cardio workout while protecting your body from injury. Bounce your way into fitness in special sport shoes (devised for rehabilitation in Europe more than 20 years go) that reduce impact on your joints, hips, knees and spine.
