Best known as big-shot actress and Revlon girl, I also admire the girl's sense of adventure – I've seen pics of her with hair colours ranging between honey blonde, carrot orange, deep chocolate brown, and anything else you can imagine.

Do you need any more motivation to be a little daring this spring?

To achieve Emma's make-up look isn't very hard. The first and most important step is to create a flawless complexion. Neutralise any pigmentation marks, dark circles and redness with corrective colour concealers.

Woolworths offer good ones in their house-brand and Inglot also have great quality correctives. Next up, apply a foundation like Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup, R220, and keep a compact powder ready to use when you've finished your make-up.

For something extra special, use Chanel Lumiére D'artifices in Beiges, R645 – it's an illuminating compact powder with a feint glimmer for added radiance.

Cheeks

If you have a porcelain complexion like Emma, use a pink blusher with a slightly warmer coral or orange tone to liven up your look, but be careful of going too orange. I recommend Clarins Blush Prodige Cheek Colour, R360 or Woolworths Blush Powder in Peach Melba, R140.

Eyes

Emma's eyes are usually lined with a black or metallic gray eye liner. Much like everything else this spring, eye shadows are all about the pastels.

Start with a base of gray, and then add splashes of pastel shades to ensure you don't end up looking like that weird lady who used to do your gran's hair.

Pretend you're drawing a three-colour-rainbow that mimics the shape of your eye, starting at the lash line. Use a vibrant neon or pastel colour first, then gray along the crease, and end with a highlighter shade. Don't forget to blend, blend, blend – the rainbow was just a way of explaining, there shouldn't be any lines visible AT ALL!

As you get the hang of it, you can always introduce more intense colours. Finish with lashings of mascara. My current favourite is Lancome Hypnose Star, R315.

Lips

As much as I hate using the term, this look calls for a delectably juicy pout. Most coral or orange shades would work, but I recently discovered Essence Marble Mania Lipgloss in 02 Mix ‘n' Mauve, R29 – it's a three-colour lip gloss that is swirled together, and comes out as a gorgeous, vibrant fuschia pink.

Finally, don't forget your nails! Spring is a time when things come alive again, so show some bright, lively splashes of colour. Even if you're not a daring dresser, your fingernails can show you're on top of this trend.
