Question: Hi Pam, I would like to know if there should be the same number of bridesmaids as best/groomsmen? We have three or four bridesmaids and two best men in mind.

Answer from Pam Black:

There are no rules as to how many bridesmaids and best men or groomsmen you should have at your wedding, you can have as many as you like. Strictly speaking, though, you can have only one 'best man' and the rest are called 'groomsmen'.

Also, you do not need to have the same number of groomsmen and bridesmaids — it's your choice. Having said that, it is important to think about how the attendants will walk down the aisle after the ceremony, as it is traditional for each bridesmaid to be escorted by one of the groom's attendants, and for them to share the dancefloor with the newlyweds. If there is an imbalance, it might also be noticeable in your wedding photos.
