I couldn't agree more, Robyn
"); document.write("Fabulous piece, this. Thank you.. Joy-Mari"); document.write("
I second that
"); document.write("I’ve also succumbed to the lure of fake designer goods, this time in Dubai – a Louis Vuitton handbag and a Chanel watch. The bag is still going strong 1 year later, although the quality is just not the same, but the watch broke 3 months after I bought it, and it was not cheap! There’s something tacky about fakes – if you can’t afford the real thing, rather stick to high street buys. As soon as I’d parted with my money I had buyer’s remorse – I wanted the real thing, and a fake was just that, a fake. Not cool, not chic, not luxury.. Jenny"); document.write("
Real is cheaper!
"); document.write("I own a real Tag Classic 2000 series and it's the cheapest watch I've ever bought. Although I bought it for R6000 I'm going to wear it for the next 40 years which comes out at R150 per year! :-). Sean"); document.write("
Fake, real, who knows
"); document.write("I once spent just over R2000 on a dinkum for real fossil watch, which started tarnishing and losing its charm(s) (har har) about 2 weeks later....
I didn't bother taking it back, tho I should have.

I just think its ludicrous to spend that amount of money on clothing/accessories, fake or real. Especially nowadays. . Gail"); document.write("
what about real ripoffs
"); document.write("sometimes you pay for a name without extra quality. many designer goods made in China. Pringles of Scotland is made in South Africa with material made in the east. you sometimes just pay for the name. what about real ripoffs"); document.write("
Fake goods
"); document.write("I don't see much of a problem with clothing. I really do not care about the brand name, only whether it is fit for my purpose, and whether it is worth its money. Clothing is not really something you want to wear forever!

When it comes to jewellery or goods that you do not want to replace every now and then such as jewellery, then I will buy the genuine thing. The same with CD's and DVD's. The copied stuff is often of better quality than local manufactured EMI/Brigadiers stuff, but I buy the imported versions where possible, as there is a definite differebnce in quality. And the original one pays for the poor artist who made it. Clothing is just clothing!

But I fail to see what has taxpayers' money got to do with fake goods? . Jo"); document.write("
sweat shops
"); document.write("Thank you for this excellent piece. I too feel strongly about not buying counterfeit CD's but have often found it more difficult to avoid buying the bags/jeans/etc. Since listening to a recent interview on 702 regarding modern day slavery reviewing an excellent book called \"A crime so monstrous\", I definitely thing twice about everything that I purchase and only purchase from reputable shops (not sweat shops, etc) and wish that everyone would take the moral high ground!!!. Nicci"); document.write("
Why not fake?
"); document.write("Why not buy fake? Really, c'mon. Manufacturers linked to crimiminal organisations eg the mob, sweat shops, the risk of being caught out and paying a hefty fine, maybe even jail time.

I don't understand why people can't just save and buy the real thing.Buying on credit is going to get you into even more trouble, so if you really really really want that authentic Gucci bag, this is the only way.

I think people who knowingly buy fakes are very very sad and desperate. . Andrea"); document.write("
