Bring back canning!

document.write("I feel discipline is lacking in the schools.25 years ago when i was at school the bullies would get sorted out in the principal's office. I feel that due to no discipline they are now able to get away with it. 25 years ago, a canning from the principal would sort them out. I don't think we have turned out to bad with a canning every now and then. Our kids unfortunetly are living in a scary enviroment with nobody to sort the bullies out. Bring back physical punishment (canning) at schools.. Peter van den Berg");

The brain is an organ which is only fully developed by the age of 18 years, therefore, too much pressure is forced onto our children to grasp the enormous task of understanding the new curriculum implemented by our Department of Education!! Some of of our educators are not capable of teaching our children!!! We, as South Africans need to unite and try and solve our problems, instead of trying to rule one another!! . Rachel Laubscher");

The BIG problem is: where are the fathers? They are not doing their jobs! It is easy to say that the teachers have a rsponsibility, BUT the prime responsibility lies with the father (secondly with the mother). Parents tend to pass off their responsibilities to people like teachers and Sunday school teachers, sports cosches, etc.
If parents did what they are supposed to do this sort of thing will be greatly reduced (unfortunately not eliminated), but it will then be a rarity.
Punishment belongs at home (it must then be done in love and not in anger).
Parents: stand up and take charge. Love your children and save them. Don't feed them to the wolves.
Yes, I acknowledge that there will still be children that will rebel and go against their parents. The thing is, when parents do what they are supposed to this will only be a small percentage.
Parents must stop blaming teachers, bad company, heavy metal bands, etc. Parents must getting involved in the lives of their children.. Charles Willers");

Monitors (older boys) are appointed to watch over the boys during breaktimes. If they see anything they report it to staff members immediately. The boys all feel they can approach a peer more easily if they have an issue of concern. . Michelle");

Forget the sick humanistic approach. If a bully is found out say three times by a committee where all who are involved are present (and that includes the parents or the child's caretakers) then the bully should be removed from that school and placed in a \"special\" school where individual counseling and group therapy can be applied. But, alas, our school system as a whole is so deficient that such a proposal would probably not be practical. What a shame. . jaycee");
