With the cold snaps hitting the country presently, it's natural to dream of tropical sun and white beaches, but be careful what you wish for because according to a recent survey, a staggering 79 percent of couples admitted to having at least two arguments over a two-week holiday and most arguments were to do with men's wandering eyes to other women's bikini-clad bodies.
It seems inevitable that couples find something to argue about on holiday with a whopping 62 percent admitting to having a quarrel every single day of their holiday.
A UK website called Late Deals surveyed 1000 Britons and compiled a list of the top 10 reasons couple fight while on holiday. While the number one reason was thanks to men checking out other women in sexy bikinis while on the beach, a close second was due to women wanting to lounge in a deck chair at the poolside, whilst men desired an activity-filled holiday.
The third argument trigger was deciding what restaurant or café to dine at and what to eat off the menu.
Having one too many Mojitos and Sex on the Beaches was the fourth reason, followed by how to read a map when driving and other driving-related tiffs given as the fifth.
The sixth most common reason for arguments was packing because she packs way too much in her suitcase while he packs way too little.
Calum Macdonald of Late Deals was quoted as saying: "Everybody has their own idea of what makes the perfect break, and when you clash on these ideals arguments can break out.
"It's shocking to discover how much couples actually do argue when abroad.
According to the study, sometimes unresolved tensions got so bad between couples that six percent admitted to moving into separate rooms in their hotel at some point in time while on holiday.
"Not surprisingly the answer is to compromise, possibly finding resorts which offer a range of activities to suit all tastes so that no one feels they are not being satisfied."
At number seven on the list of holiday arguments, women were to blame because they took hopelessly too long to getting ready for dinner followed by being at odds over spending too much money while getting to the airport at the correct time was reason number nine.
Rounding off the list at number 10 was currency – where to get or exchange money and how much money to get.
