In case you've been looking for another reason to alter your vagina, here's a new product that literally bleaches the nasty colour right out of it.

A recent advert in India for a product called Clean and Dry Intimate Wash shows a couple about to sit down to enjoy a cup of coffee together, but distracted and looking dissatisfied. Looking anxiously at her partner, the woman thinks to the product in question, which the advert tells us will clear away any unwanted pigmentation in your genital area.

Back to the couple who are suddenly as happy and flirtatious as can be - presumably thanks to Clean and Dry Intimate Wash which has solved the biggest problem in their relationship: irregular genital pigmentation.

The advert has come under fire for its suggestion that darker skin tone is unacceptable, and of course, that a vagina is only acceptable if it looks a certain way.

Other popular vanity procedures for your genitals include anal bleaching (who wants a discoloured bum?), labiaplasty in which a woman's labia are nipped and tucked, and even vaginal "rejuvenation" in which the vagina is surgically tightened.

Critics lament that this extreme alteration is the result of the view in society that youthful, virginal-looking genitals are only acceptable - a disturbing thought since the only genitals that look this way naturally would be on children far too young to be engaging in sexual activity.

Are these procedures and products indicative of a more serious problem with our view of sexuality? Tell us in the comments section below.
