Scientists claim that human-to-human sex could be a thing of the past by 2050 and that robots will be taking over this activity.
What's more is that sex with robots could become addictive as they may cater specifically to our needs and desires.
The experts further said that unlike humans, robots would be available whenever people want them, which could then lead to an over-reliance.
A robotics expert, Joel Snell, told Express UK that robotic sex would become addictive as 'sexbots' would be always available and could ever say no.
"People will rearrange their lives to accommodate their addictions. Because sexbots are programmable, they would meet individual users' needs."
Furthermore, sexbots could also be introduced in the prostitution industry.
NUI Galway Law professor John Danaher said sex robots are good substitutes for human prostitutes.
"The cyborgs can cater for desire for sexual variety, freedom from constraint and complication and fear of sexual success."
Danaher said technology may even become better at developing emotional bonds with their clients.
"They won't need to 'fake it' the same way as human prostitutes."
He concluded that they have the potential of becoming a booming industry as they probably would be considerably 'cheaper' than human prostitutes.
"Who are we to judge people who want to have sex with robots?" sex therapist, Gurpreet singh told the Daily Star.
"Let the people enjoy sex robots- they will work the same way couples introduce a toy into a sexual relationship. And if both parties are agreed, I see nothing wrong."
