Voted as the Best Dressed Man for 2012 by GQ magazine, Tyrone Keogh shares his grooming tips with BeautySA.
He describes himself as 'brother, son, actor guy' on his Twitter profile, but he can now add GQ magazine's Best Dressed Man for 2012 to his list of titles.
If you haven't heard the name Tyrone Keogh, you probably recognise his face – he plays Jack van Reenen in M-Net's The Wild. Crowned (we're not sure if there was an actual crown involved) at the Westcliff Hotel on 22 October we asked South Africa's most stylish guy for his grooming tips.
What's keeping you busy right now?
We are working towards a very dramatic climax on The Wild, so I'm out on set in the bush most days, but also investigating some options for next year when the show has come to an end.
What is your skincare routine like?
I am permanently busy, so my time is precious to me. But being on camera every day means I do take care of myself.
My routine is simple; I only use Dermalogica – first a cleansing gel, then ultra calming mist, daily defense SPF 50 by day and ultra moist by night, and an anti age eye cream all the time. I also use the body wash and moisturising body cream.
What grooming products do you use?
I'm that guy who doesn't shave, unless a role requires it, but I keep facial hair neat with a pair of Philips grooming clippers and my torso in order with the Philips Bodygroom Plus.
What aftershave are you wearing at the moment?
I'm not, but by day I wear something light like Issey Miyake or Aqua di Gio (by Giorgio Armani). At night it's something stronger, like Tom Ford or Vera Wang.
What is your position on facial hair?
I've always got some stubble, it works for me as long as it's not out of control. But ladies, I won't kiss you if you have any…
Do you cut your hair yourself or do you visit a barber/stylist/girlfriend?
I'm lucky enough to get weekly trims by the lovely Deidre Green, the cast hairstylist for The Wild.
If we were to open your gym bag what would we find in it?
A Dermalogica toiletry bag with all the essentials, gym threads, towel, water! Evox supplements and my iPod with some seriously heavy beats.
What grooming tips would you pass on to your kids one day?
Clean your fingernails and always smell good.
What is your number one health tip?
Drink water, eat clean and train dirty.
