The madam will hate you, but come on you're saving the world, even if it is bit by bit. Here are 10 reasons not to throw your newspapers away...
If you've run out of firelighters, roll up two or three sheets of newspaper and tie them in a loose knot. Put a few of these under the firewood and light them.
Newspaper is good for cleaning glass and mirrors. Spray a cleaning agent on the glass and wipe it clean with newspaper.
Get creative and use yesterday's newspaper as wallpaper in your guest loo. It'll be a great talking point.
Use the weekend paper to speed up an avo's ripening process. Just wrap the fruit up in a sheet and leave it for a day or two.
Stuff newspaper into your wet shoes and leave them to dry overnight. Putting them next to a heater will help, too.
Got a cat? Line the base of its litter tray with newspaper so it's easy to clean out; this should keep
awful smells to a minimum.
Recycle it. For a list of places that will collect your waste paper for recycling, see www.mhliving.co.za
Fold up a few sheets of paper and shove them under your front door to stop a draught blowing through your home.
Spread newspaper underneath that wooden chair you're painting, or if you're painting a wall push paper up against it so you don't end up with paint-splattered floors.
Roll a piece of newspaper into a funnel and stick it to a wall with masking tape underneath the point you're drilling.
