Men who've watched a woman give birth can only imagine the pain she goes through, knowing that their offer of a hand to hold while she awaits the next contraction is small comfort for the pain that grips her through those breathtaking minutes.
That is, until now. Two young presenters on Dutch TV show Guinea Pigs recently took one for the proverbial team and hooked themselves up to electrodes to simulate the contractions women go through during labour.
In the clip, Dennis Storm and Valerio Zena nervously met with nurses in a nicely made-up room one of whom, after explaining what to expect, has them lie down on a queen-size bed and lift up their shirts so she can put the conductors onto key areas of their stomach.
During this process, Zena wonders aloud whether the contractions will make him scream, to which the matter-of-fact nurse replies, "Yes, it definitely will."
The pair endure two hours of simulated contractions which is a lot shorter than most women go through labour, but they both seem to have a new appreciation for women.
Zena is not sure he wants his wife to experience this pain.
