A series of informative, enlightening and entertaining events, hosted by the Cape Times, MTN and V & A Waterfront, will see National Women’s Day celebrated in style between Friday, 27 July and Saturday, 4 August.
"Women at the Top" - Friday, 27 July
Time & venue: 07h30 in the V & A Forum.
Women’s Week will be opened with a performance by Women Unite, an all women marimba band. Dr Yvonne Muthien, MTN’s Corporate Affairs Executive will enlighten guests with talk entitled “Re-design your Career”, followed by “How to obtain Venture Capital” by Jenni Fair of Here Be Dragons, the company started by Mark Shuttleworth when he sold Thawte Consulting. Whilst a delicious breakfast is served there will be an exciting fashion walk-through featuring executive fashion from the V & A Waterfront. Then sit back and enjoy “Executive presentation techniques and boardroom tactics” by Melany Green of Business Presentation Group and then be inspired by Alice Bell of Fair Lady on
“Building a corporate career”. Yoga offers a wonderful way for busy executives to de-stress, so enjoy a session on stress release in your seat! Tickets for this opening function are R125.00
"Women and Technology" - Tuesday, 31 July

"Women and Technology" offers an overview of e-commerce and internet security, presented by Nicola Byers of Thawte Consulting. Sarah Finch, manager of Corporate Business Development of MTN will unleash complete communication using your cellphone. Amanda Reekie of In-the-bag will give all delegates a R50 virtual voucher plus show you the benefits of shopping on-line. The cost of the event is R95.00 and includes a delicious breakfast.
"Women in the Home" - Wednesday, 1 August

"Women in the Home" covers a talk on how to project manage your own home renovations by Michael Hurworth of Hurworth and Associates, Liesl van der Walt of
Kirstenbosch will present “Water-wise and Indigenous Gardens” and Maria Vasco, interior designer and the Sunshine Academy will explain the mystique and relevance of colour psychology in the home. Tickets are R75 and include refreshments.
"The Well-being of Women" - Saturday, 4 August
Time & venue: 09h30 in the V & A Forum
"The Well-being of Women" features top speakers in their fields, and climaxes with them forming a panel able to answer all your questions. Hear sexologist Dr Eve talk on “Sexuality and Well-being”, nutritionist and author Mary-Ann Shearer on “Five Steps to Vibrant Living” and gynaecologist Dr Stan Sandler on “What Worries Women”. Tickets are R95 and include a light brunch.
