She's just a few days into her reign, but young Miss Marilyn Ramos has been hard at work meeting with press. We managed to catch up with her to find out how it all feels.
How does it feel to be crowned Miss SA?
Wow, words cannot describe the overwhelming joy and all sort emotions! I feel honored to be a ambassador for such a spectacular nation and cannot contain myself when thinking of how blessed I am to have so much support and well wishes coming my way.
Can you tell us about any moment during the whole competition that stands out for you – aside from winning, of course!
Having room service with my roommate 11pm. Hahaha! Not having a sister, small yet special moments where I could bond with some of the other finalists are memories that will always lie near to my heart.
What was your favourite look during the final night of the Miss SA pageant?
Any girl loves feeling like a princess, and despite the hot tango outfits, the evening wear was certainly my ultimate. The poise and grace each girl portrayed made for a breathtaking scene.
What’s the first thing on your to-do list as the new Miss SA?
Well, a few days into my new life and I have covered a mountain-load of interviews. I feel that it is of utmost importance for me to get acquainted with the Sun International family to start off with, so that I can lay down a good foundation for the year ahead.
What do you hope to achieve in your year as Miss SA?
There are many things on my goal list for the next year, but to sum it all up, I want to make a difference. I want to create better relationships between the youth and the elderly, as I feel that we can learn so much from the wisdom and knowledge that they have gained throughout experience. By doing so, the future of South Africa, the youth, can use what they learnt as stepping stones into a great future.
How will you be spending Christmas and New Year?
After a busy and challenging year, I will be heading off to the South coast [of Durban] with family and loved ones. Coming from a close family, it is important for me to spend the festive season with them and prepare for another busy and great 2013 that lies ahead.
