The French luxury fine foods retailer, which often sells quite colourful gourmet creations, will soon surprise its regulars with an éclair dressed entirely in black. The limited edition pastry is a tribute to the Dark Knight on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
Over the years, Fauchon has paid homage to various cultural and historical icons with special editions of its famous éclairs. Even the Mona Lisa has been honoured by the brand's pastry chefs, who printed her famous gaze on a dark chocolate shell.
For its new Batman edition, Fauchon created a special black choux pastry. Dark chocolate is clearly the right choice for a tribute to the Dark Knight, so the cream filling is made from Venezuelan dark chocolate with 75 percent cacao content. A layer of dark chocolate frosting rounds out the dessert, calling to mind the streets of Gotham City.
The Batman éclair will be available for R90 at Fauchon stores from November 24 to December 6.
