Not sure what to wear for the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate this Saturday?
Make sure you have the perfect outfit to catch the judges attention for that best dressed prize.
Still stuck on what to wear and limited on time? Don’t panic, Errol Arendz, who has once judged Best Dressed at the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, gives us the low down on what you should be wearing to make sure you are stylishly on trend.
Stick to the theme
Every year the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate has a strict blue and white dress code.
You don’t want to stand out like a sore thumb in a bright fuchsia dress. Rather stick to the colour palette of blue and white.
If you do want to introduce more colours then silver is your best bet. Accessorise with silver jewellery and you can’t go wrong
These events tend to be more sophisticated, so keep the hemlines longer and opt for dresses that are sexy yet sophisticated and oozing with style. One shoulder dresses are great to create a feeling of elegance and class.
As the event is in January it can get very hot! So wear something that is not too tight and will keep you cool. Apply sunscreen as you don’t want to get burnt
Wear a fascinator
The fun part about events like these is you get to wear something you don’t normally wear, a beautiful and stunning fascinator. Keep it simple and elegant and not too over the top.
Make sure you match the fascinator with your dress and if you are wearing a more over the top one then keep your dress simple
A great trick to protect your seriously sexy heels is to use heel protectors which stop the heel from sinking – these go for about R65 and can be found online.
It can be tricky to walk on grass with heels so make sure you wear something that you can actually walk in.
