Love a little Gap style? Now your prayers have been answered, because Gap has just launched two stand-alone stores in Tygervalley Centre, Cape Town and the other in Sandton City, Gauteng.
A limited range of Gap Clothing has been available at Stuttafords for quite some time but now the whole range — Women’s, Men’s, GapKids, BabyGap, as well as the GapMaternity apparel collections — are all available.
"Over the last few years, we have established, through our Stuttafords department stores, the keen appetite for the Gap brand and products in South Africa," said Hilton Mer, Executive Chairman of the Stuttafords Group.
A third store in Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria will open later this year also offering clothing, accessories and personal care products under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Piperlime and Athleta brands.
Gap was founded by Don and Doris Fisher in 1969 because Don couldn’t find a pair of jeans that fit and now has more than 14 million global customers pouring into more than 3000 stores in over 90 countries worldwide.
The name "The Gap" was a reference to the generation gap while ‘Old Navy’ is named after a bar in Paris.
