Fashion designer Donatella Versace's dream is to dress Britain's Queen Elizabeth in a little leather for a bit of rock 'n roll.

Versace, who has been at the helm of the Versace brand since 1997 when her brother was murdered, says that the octogenarian monarch needs to update her look.

"If I could dress anyone I'd like to dress the queen - she can handle anything.

I'd put her in black - she never wears black - and add a little leather, maybe. A little rock 'n' roll."

The Queen is known for her practical, yet colourful dresses and coats. She prefers to wear mid-calf length skirts with stockings and court shoes and often accesorises her outfits with a matching bag and hat.

Britain is currently celebrating the Queen's 60th year in service to her country - making it her Diamond Jubilee.

Stewart Parvin has been the royal designer to the Queen since 2000. He and head dresser Angela Kelly try to incorporate old and new fabrics in the designs.

Some of the material they incorporate has been given to Her Majesty many years ago. Some of this fabric dates from when she was Princess Elizabeth.
