Once a voluptuous siren championing the cause for the fuller-figured woman, top model Crystal Renn is now a skinny size six and has a surprising admission to make: being a plus-sized model was a lot of pressure.
Renn is no stranger to weight fluctuation and in spite of finding great success on the modelling scene while she was at her heaviest she wasn't likely to have stuck to that weight.
"I think that by placing a title on my head, which is 'plus-size,' and then the picture that these people have created in their mind about what plus-size actually is, I've basically failed you just with that," she said, adding that she wouldn't be able to live up to that expectation without developing an eating disorder.
The gorgeous model, who battled anorexia for much of her teen years, has written a book called Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves about her struggle with the expectation to fit the image society dictates for young women.
Along with her new and snug figure, Renn has recently gone platinum blonde.
"I wanted to do something different. I wanted to show up as a different canvas at a shoot. It's a very extreme look but very beautiful. Though it's nothing conventional."
