Kate Moss consulted her geography teacher before becoming a model.

The 36-year-old was scouted at New York?s JFK airport when she was 14. It had never crossed her mind to become a model, and was unsure whether it was a career she wanted to embark on.

She decided to ask those close to her for their input, including a teacher she respected.

"I was only 14, so I hadn't got around to thinking about what I wanted to do," she said.

"I had this lovely geography teacher, and I asked her whether she thought I should give modelling a try, and she said, 'Kate, just give it a go. If it doesn?t work out, you can always go to college.' "

Kate still can?t believe how successful her career is.

She doesn't feel like a particularly strong model, and constantly worries someone else will see that.

Although she is not entirely confident in her abilities she loves her job, and hopes to keep working far into the future.

"I never dreamt of being a model. I still can't quite believe it, even now.

"I still think I'm blagging it a bit, but nobody's cottoned on yet," she laughed to Grazia magazine.

"I?m still having a wonderful time modelling. In career terms, things have never been better."
