Apparently, Elizabeth Taylor, Betty Paige and Twiggy are among iconic beauties still inspiring style today.
Experts at Clothes Show London cite the trio, along with Madonna, Marlene Dietrich and Jennifer Aniston, as pioneering the six make-up trends that shook the world.
'Cleopatra' beauty Elizabeth's heavy-kohled, smoky-eyed look, which she teamed with nude lips, is still a favourite with young stars including 'Edge of Love' actress Keira Knightley.
Katy Perry is one of many stars taking inspiration from Betty Paige, whose thick, heavy eyebrows and vivid red lips made her the iconic face of many films including 'Striporama'.
Sarah Harding's cropped hairstyle, defined eyelashes and quirky eyeliner pay homage to original supermodel Twiggy, who at the height of her success was seen as 'The Face of 1966', while Marlene Dietrich's look in 1932 movie 'Shanghai Express' — thin pencilled eyebrows and dark lipstick — is still mimicked on the red carpet by modern-day beauties such as Drew Barrymore.
Madonna's iconic 'Vogue' look of platinum hair, smoky eyes and quirky clothing is echoed in 'Poker Face' star Lady Gaga's current style, while on a more modern tip, Jennifer Aniston's famous 'Friends' shaggy hair cut and bare-faced make-up can currently be seen on Mischa Barton.
Clothes Show London takes place at the city's ExCel centre on May 29-31.
Meanwhile, Dolce and Gabbana say sexiness is no longer about "Cindy Crawford in a black bra".
The Italian design duo insists fashion design has moved on over the last 10 years, adding women no longer find revealing clothes as appealing.
Stefano Gabbana said: "The first thing for us is that women always look sexy. But sexiness now is totally different to what it was 10 years ago, when it was all about Cindy Crawford in a black bra."
The pair have recently revealed their newest collection, and surprised many by ditching figure-hugging frocks for floaty, less-tailored pieces.
The designers insist their new aesthetic does not symbolise a move away from glamorous clothing, but rather a change in what they think women want to wear.
Stefano explained to Britain's Glamour magazine: "We don't renounce sexy details in our creations, we keep speaking to a very feminine woman.
"Allure isn't just about clothes. It exists in how you hold your drink or how you look at other people. The most evident mistake a woman can make is not being comfortable in her clothes. That inevitably reflects on the entire figure and general attitude."
And, apparently Victoria Beckham was "overwhelmed" when Madonna wore one of her designs.
The singer-turned-designer was overcome with emotion when she saw the 50-year-old had chosen to wear one of her high-end dresses to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party last February.
Victoria explained: "It's just phenomenal! I actually didn't know Madonna was going to wear my dress, I hadn't sent it to her — she picked it herself and when I saw the picture in a magazine I was overwhelmed. For her to wear one of my designs — wow. She looked so amazing in it."
The party is not the only time Madonna has donned a dress from Victoria's range. She sported a tight-fitting frock from the line when she took part in a photoshoot for America's W magazine, during she which she met her current boyfriend Brazilian model Jesus Luz.
