South Africa's search for the 2008 'Show Me Your Sloggi' winner came to an end in Cape Town last week when Maxzell Lerm was selected by a panel of judges to represent South Africa in Paris, France later this year.
The competition was launched in South Africa in August this year, searching for South Africa's best bottom as part of a global modeling competition. Entrants were invited to upload photos at www.sloggi.co.za where the finalists were selected by an online vote.
Maxzell will be one of 31 international winners competing to be the overall Show Me Your Sloggi winner in 2008.
Hailing from Hermanus in the Western Cape, gregarious Maxzell, a 21-year old model, keeps fit with an active lifestyle including plenty of dancing with friends between castings and shoots across South Africa.
Says Dawn Laughton, Marketing Manager of Sloggi South Africa: "The calibre of entrants this year has been excellent, we had a difficult time selecting the winner. Maxzell was chosen to represent South Africa as she epitomised the Sloggi brand — fun, young, wholesome and energetic — after spending time with her, we just knew she was our girl."
Laughton was joined as judge by Liam de Preez Paterson, Managing Director of The Runway in Cape Town, and well known Fashion Week photographer, Simon Deiner.
Laughton continues: "This year, there were almost 100 000 visitors to the South African website voting for their favourite contestant. This competition has grown and has become a platform for aspiring models to launch their careers."
Maxzell will receive R5000 worth of Sloggi lingerie and an all expenses paid trip to the international event in Paris. The overall Show Me Your Sloggi winner will receive a modeling contract for the next international Sloggi campaign, €15 000, one year's worth of underwear and… insurance for her bottom!
