The Good Food & and Wine Show is the largest food and beverage show in South Africa. This year the show will be more interactive than ever — giving you more opportunities than ever to sample, taste and buy, the best products available.

And don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to cook 'hands-on' with some of the best BBC celebrity chefs who are flown in by Swiss International Airlines.

Cook with celebrity chefs

Focussing on interactive activities, the cooking workshops sponsored by Spekko Rice will be a highlight at the show. Come along with some friends or your partner and cook up a storm in a modern kitchen scenario.

The best local as well as celebrity BBC chefs will be showcased in this interactive area and you will be given the opportunity to experience hands-on cooking focussing on the latest international trends.

Swiss International Air Lines is bringing out a five-star flight of BBC Food Celebrity Chefs. Ever the cooking guru, Ainsley Harriott, who is renowned on TV channels worldwide and best known for his series 'Ready Steady Cook', will be enticing guests to whip up some fresh, fine accessible cuisine.

As head chef of Petersham Nurseries Café, Skye Gyngell works almost exclusively with seasonal produce, creating simple food inspired by what she sees growing and flowering around her.

The relatively short menu changes every week and comprises of an average of five starters and five main course dishes plus cakes, ice creams and desserts. In season, she picks herbs, salads and fruit from the walled kitchen garden of Petersham House and uses as much local produce as she can lay her hands on.

"The secret," she says, "is not to mess with a great ingredient. All you have to do is turn the volume up." Skye's creative, eco-friendly, not to mention delicious cuisine is not to be missed at this year’s show.

What else is on?

Marcos Georgiou, head chef of Jamie's Italian restaurants in the UK will join us for the show. Jamie's Italian is a new range of Italian restaurants that belong to well known BBC chef Jamie Oliver. Come witness the 'Passione' for cooking as Giancarlo and Katie Caldesi cook up a storm using the best Italian ingredients available. They are releasing a brand new cookbook later this year and will share their secrets and recipes with you for the very first time. Besides the pastas, meat, breads, cheeses, olives and sauces, come and enjoy the best Italian ice-cream and coffee on offer in this area.

From the Garden to the Kitchen a worldwide trend, introduces sustainability and focuses on the demand for seasonal produce in the world and South Africa. In our current economic climate, 'healthier and economical' are key issues. Top UK celebrity chefs will chat about organic gardening and how you can transform your home into a more eco-friendly environment, so be sure to pay them a visit.

The Beer Route will showcase a wide range of premium local and imported beers available in South Africa, including an interactive theatre forum, providing educational talks by international master brewers and playing host to a prestigious beer pouring competition. One of the main attractions will be the beer and food pairing events.

The Great Wine Sale is an extension of the ever-popular Wine Walk. A wide variety of South Africa's premium wines will be available for tasting and purchase by the box. This is your opportunity to discover the best wines and stock up.

Outdoor Entertaining is so popular as we have great weather in South Africa to eat outdoors. This year we promise to elevate the traditional braai to a cooking appliance, catering for a wide range of succulent dishes.
